MGM has released a “Seven-Point Safety Plan” for facilities that include the MGM Grand Detroit casino. FBI investigators in a criminal complaint released Thursday detail how Colletti allegedly stole nearly $100,000 from at least 10 victims at MGM Grand Casino in Detroit back in May 2019, and more.

The casino closed in mid-November during the 3-week pause, which was then extended by 12 days, but is allowed to reopen under the latest guidelines from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

It could have opened at midnight on Monday, Dec. 21, but said it will open Wednesday so that all returning employees will get COVID-19 tests.

Once it has reopened, MotorCity will follow all health and safety protocols, it said, including mandatory mask-wearing, social distancing by shutting down slot machines, removing seating at table games, and using plexiglass barriers. There will also be temperature checks for everything.

Under the latest order, concession stands must remain closed, so only carryout food and drink options will be available, and none will be able to be consumed in the casnio.

MotorCity Casino Hotel announced that it is pleased to be able to reopen and safely welcome back its staff and guests on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. By then, its returning employees will all have been COVID-19 tested.

MGM Grand Detroit also said it is reopening at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

Face masks will be required, social distancing enforced, and coat check and valet services are closed. All guests must enter through the self-park garage, and smoking is prohibited inside the casino.

Colletti, using several disguises that included multiple prosthetic face masks, different hats, glasses, surgical masks and even a mobility walker, developed an elaborate plan to defraud casino-goers by using counterfeit driver's licenses and illegally obtained personal information to make unauthorized e-check withdrawals from Global Payment kiosks inside casinos.

On March 12, Colletti was arrested for identity theft by Prairie Band Potawatomi Tribal police at the Prairie Band Casino and Resort in Kansas. Security at the casino approached Colletti, who was dressed as an elderly white man in a straw hat, glasses and using a mobility walker, according to court documents, and asked him to got to the cashier's cage to collect over $20,000 in cash withdrawals because that amount required him to use his social security number for reporting purposes.

Colletti then attempted to escape by heading to a restroom and removing his disguise before exiting the casino. Security found pieces of his disguise and $11,000 in the restroom.
